It’s so funny and amazing to me how our lives can change so drastically. If you would have told my husband and I 6 years ago that one day we would be traveling in an RV for work we would have laughed hysterically! We were both working full time jobs, me a home health Physical Therapy Assistant and him managing a family convenience store which was more like a 24/7 job, and fitting in family life amongst that.
I secretly dreamed of being a stay at home mom and while my husband loved what he did longed for less stress. Insert our journey through our daughters brain cancer diagnosis and treatment in which changed everything. We went from two full time incomes barely breaking even to one income surviving. After our daughters passing we were both changed emotionally as we should be but we were also given this new perspective on life. A simple life with more adventures, more laughs and less stress.
Life to us was so much more than just making it, its a gift that can be used to flourish and God didn’t intend for us to just be making it. Our lives have been a rollercoaster the past few years but God has continued taking us on a journey of finding a lifestyle He had planned for us.
My husband told himself after Aiden’s death that he would not allow his work to consume him causing burnout and being mentally checked out from his family. That’s when we decided it was time for him to find a new career he could love and still provide for us.
This is what lead us to traveling in a camper, homeschooling our kids and loads of family time. His job does pull him away from our home for long periods of time but we get to go with him while our kids are young, they get to see parts of the United States and have new adventures. Isn’t that what life is about, having an adventure?!
The world tells us of all the things we need to do to be successful, raise successful kids, work to reach the top and be a do all parent at the same time; it’s rare that the world tells us to enjoy life. We are a vapor in time and I believe God didn’t intend for us to be consumed with worldly standards.
We believe in hard work, working with a joyful heart, and staying humble with honesty and respect. No matter what job or where life takes you, you can practice these things. God makes a way. If you feel stuck or consumed by the life you are in right now, He can make a way. He may say jump but you gotta be willing to take the leap! Life will throw some punches but you gotta be willing to take the hits (my favorite Rocky moment)!
Trust in the Lord and He will lead you on an adventure. There will be some challenges, some waiting, a fine tuning season, times when it’s dark with touch and go scenarios, maybe even some 360’s and free falls but if you trust in Him and keep pursuing His knowledge then get ready for that adventure we call a Godly LIFE!!
